3rd Youth Security Forum opened in Kyiv

The 3rd Youth Kyiv Security Forum organized by Arseniy Yatsenyuk Open Ukraine Foundation together with the NATO Information and Documentation Centre and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation has started today, March 25, in Kiyv. 

More than 70 young leaders, students, civil society activists from Kyiv, Lviv, Odessa, Dnipropetrovsk and Belgium, Germany, Slovakia, Georgia and other countries participate in the work of the Forum. 

The theme of the Forum is “New generation’s role for peace and security”.

“With great pleasure we would like to note the level of qualification of people who applied for participation in our event. We are very glad to know that there are so many talented, intelligent, socially active young people in Ukraine. This is the next generation, which should absorb the intelligence and wisdom of older generations, to demonstrate enthusiasm and being confident in their strength begin to build the future with us. I hope that participation in the Third Youth Kyiv Security Forum will give to the young people the knowledge and experience necessary to build a strong and prosperous Ukraine,” – said Head of Supervisory Council of the Open Ukraine  Foundation Tereziya YATSENYUK in her welcoming speech. 

Overall, the Forum received more than 500 applications from both Ukrainian students, young professionals and their foreign colleagues.

The Prime-minister of Ukraine Arseniy YATSENYUK is expected to deliver a speech during the event. 

The participants shall also have an opportunity to listen to Deputy Minister of Defence of Lithuania Marius WIELICZKA, Poland's Defense minister (2007-2011 gg.) Bogdan KLICH, Deputy head of the Department of NATO's cooperation with states-partners Peter LUNAK, PD of Ukraine Andriy TETERUK, analyst on Ukraine, representative of the  Jamestown Foundation Vladimir SOCOR and other speakers.

The 3rd Youth Security Forum will be working two days. During the event the issues of struggle of interests between major international players will be discussed, the youth together with expert will seek efficient mechanisms for the international community to resolve the conflict and consider the lessons that Ukraine and the whole world carried out from the military conflict in Ukraine.

The Youth Kyiv Security Forum is a new initiative of the Arseniy Yatsenyuk Open Ukraine Foundation, which aims at creation of a discussion platform for young experts from different countries on important issues of international relations and foreign policy. The main goal of the Forum is to empower the new generation by increasing their capacity to participate in policy analyses and policy development processes.

The Arseniy Yatsenyuk Open Ukraine Foundation is a non-governmental organization aimed at facilitating the development  of public diplomacy and international cooperation with Ukraine.
