Young experts met for making forecasts on new challenges of international security
On 28 November 2014 on the initiative of Arseniy Yatsenyuk Open Ukraine Foundation the practical training is held as part of Kyiv Youth Security Forum that brought together young experts for model development of events in the international arena with participation of Ukraine.
During opening session Danylo Lubkivskiy, vice-minister of foreign affairs of Ukraine and Andreas von Bekerath, Ambassador of Sweden in Ukraine spoke to young experts. The experienced experts highlighted the importance of chosen topic and wished success in training to young people.
Thus, the Ambassador of Sweden noted that building the strategies and forecasts is important not only for international security, but for all spheres of life. «If a company does not have a proper strategy, then this company will not rise high. A strategy is needed even for raising children», - said Mr. Ambassador.
Danylo Lubkivskiy supported this idea and added that «the future depends on our imagination. Our imagination and our taste depend on our skills. The more skills we have in our heads, the better future we have a chance to create for ourselves».
Tereziya Yatsenyuk, Head of Supervisory Board of Open Ukraine Foundation in her greeting address to participants highlighted the relevance of practical training. She focused that a young generation of Ukrainians are those who will build the future of our country. «Soon young people will take this responsible cause in their hands. For that they need skills. To do that it’s necessary to learn to see the future, foresee the developments of events and be ready for new challenges».
The second part of the training was in a form of practical work, where participants were divided in groups, and build scenarios on given subject under the guidance of experienced experts:
- Viktor ZAMYATIN, Lead expert of policy and legal programs;
- Mykola KAPITONENKO, Executive director at Centre for International Studies;
- Nataliya NEMYLIVSKA, Director of NATO Information and Documentation Centre in Ukraine;
- Oleksandr SAMARSKIY, Ukrainian diplomat, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine;
- Mykola SIRUK, Editor of International and Information Department, "Day" daily newspaper.
It’s expected that as a result of practical work the participants in two weeks will present forecasts of changes in geopolitical location of the centres as well as ideas with regards to behaviour and policy of major international actors. The best works will be presented for public discussion with participation of experienced experts.
