Government is for decentralization of power, but firmly against any calls for federalisation from other states

At the same time, as the Prime Minister stressed, Ukraine’s Government espouses the principle of decentralisation of power,

Said principle implies, e.g., dismantlement of State administrations, delegation of powers to local authorities and local executive committees: It means that every one may have a say at the central and local level and elect local government in their region, rather in Kyiv.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk underscored that to this end, even before the presidential elections, ‘Ukraine should clearly declare what its new Constitution is going to be’.

Head of the Government submitted that every Cabinet and President in the nation’s history has tried to have the fundamental law redrafted according to their likings: ‘People wanted a change of the system, not a change of faces. To change a system one needs to have a new Constitution, a new balance of powers between the Parliament, Cabinet, President, and the judiciary as well as delegation of  powers from the central level to local government.’
