French expert suggests sending NATO troops to the de-occupied territories of Ukraine
The presence of NATO troops in the recently de-occupied territories of Ukraine could stop Russia from committing further crimes.
This opinion was expressed by Nicolas Tenzer, Chairman of the Center for Studies and Research on Political Decision (France), Non-Resident Senior Fellow at the Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA) at the 15th annual Kyiv Security Forum, established by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk “Open Ukraine” Foundation.
“The Vilnius summit will be held this July, and we do not know whether Ukraine receives a MAP or an invitation to join NATO. There are different views on this. Since 2008, I have been supporting the idea of MAP to Ukraine. What we can do right now, though, is deploy the NATO troops in Ukraine. At the very least the NATO troops may be deployed in the recently de-occupied Ukrainian territories. This would put an end to committing future crimes,” said Tenzer.
He stressed that the West must also fully and completely adhere to the sanctions regime as long as Putin and his entourage continue to commit war crimes and crimes against humanity.
“We have allowed Putin to manage our agenda for 22 years. We allowed Putin to commit all these war crimes, the crimes against humanity and genocide in many parts of the world. Do you remember 1999, with Putin as Prime Minister, they started blowing up houses in Russia to justify the Second Chechen War? Do you remember Georgia? Putin has committed exceedingly more war crimes against humanity than al-Qaeda and ISIS combined,” the expert emphasized.
Mr Tenzer added that the West failed to draw any conclusions after the events of 2015 in Syria. If such conclusions were drawn, then “February 24, 2022 simply would not have happened.”
Noteworthy, the 15th annual Kyiv security forum “For Our and Your Freedom/ Fighting for NATO” will be held on May 25-26, 2023, with the participation of well-known international figures. In particular, at the Forum, the KSF Security Council will be established and a policy document will be adopted with recommendations for the NATO summit in Vilnius to be held this July.
