Ukraine is experiencing the largest humanitarian crisis since the Second World War, Olena Kondratiuk
Today, Ukraine is experiencing the largest humanitarian crisis since the Second World War, and the amount of damage is almost $150 billion.
This was stated by Olena Kondratiuk, Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in an online address to the participants of the 15th annual Kyiv Security Forum, founded by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk’s “Open Ukraine” Foundation.
"Without a new understanding of what a just world means, there never can be a safe world. Cynical killers hide aggression under the mask of justice they way they understand it. And this is highly appropriately visualized by two arrest warrants for Putin and for his accomplice Lvova-Belova,” she said.
Ms Kondratiuk emphasized that Putin unleashed the most massive genocide in Europe in the 21st century.
In particular, according to her, some 20,000 children were forcibly deported to Russia, “where they teach them to hate Ukraine.”
“Almost 200,000 square kilometers of our country are mine-polluted. It’s the territory of two Hungarys or one Great Britain,” said the Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada.
Olena Kondratiuk also reported that after the war there will be about 3 million veterans in Ukraine who will need to be re-accustomed to ordinary life.
“All these numbers can drive anyone crazy, but not the Ukrainians. We are strong and we hold on. We will certainly cope with both the war and the humanitarian crisis,” she emphasized.
Noteworthy, the 15th annual Kyiv security forum “For Our and Your Freedom/ Fighting for NATO” will be held on May 25-26, 2023, with the participation of well-known international figures. In particular, at the Forum, the KSF Security Council will be established and a policy document will be adopted with recommendations for the NATO summit in Vilnius to be held this July.
