Hanna Hopko about the NATO summit in Vilnius: Nothing is impossible, F-16 for Ukraine also seemed impossible sometime ago
The international community should draw conclusions from history and protect democracy by supporting Ukraine’s membership in NATO.
This was emphasized by Hanna Hopko, Chair of the Board of the National Interest Advocacy Network “ANTS”, in her speech at the 15th annual Kyiv Security Forum, established by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk’s “Open Ukraine” Foundation.
“After the mistakes at Bucharest Summit, I really want to hear invitation to join NATO at the summit in Vilnius. And then at the Summit in Washington, we can start ratification procedures. And the path from Vilnius to Washington will be the path under US leadership, and President Biden’s personal contribution to the real defense of democracy,” she stressed.
Hanna Hopko is certain that despite certain skepticism in expectations from the Summit in Vilnius, the positive decision for Ukraine is realistic.
“We believe that prior to Vilnius we can convince our partners, in particular the ones who earlier said that the F-16 delivery to Ukraine was impossible. Nothing is impossible,” she said.
Chair of the Board of the National Interest Advocacy Network “ANTS” also expressed her belief that Ukraine’s international partners should recognize the ethnicity-based crimes committed by the Russians against Ukrainians.
“Talking today about ways to protect democracy in Ukraine, it is advisable for Western partners to draw their conclusions as well. Failure to recognize in due time and course the famine of 1932-1933 as genocide of Ukrainians becomes one of today’s reasons why genocide against Ukraine is taking place now, in the 21st century,” she added.
“Our Western partners must understand that Ukraine’s victory is not solely a Ukrainian victory, but also a victory for democracy. This is the victory of truth. And to hear the truth one needs courage as well,’ Hanna Hopko is convinced.
Noteworthy, the 15th annual Kyiv security forum “For Our and Your Freedom/ Fighting for NATO” will be held on May 25-26, 2023, with the participation of well-known international figures. In particular, at the Forum, the KSF Security Council will be established and a policy document will be adopted with recommendations for the NATO summit in Vilnius to be held this July.
