Ukraine must get the weaponry that becomes a decisive factor on the battlefield - General Wesley Clark
The US must equip Ukraine with all the necessary means to win the war, whereas the Russian President Putin must understand that neither the US nor NATO are intimidated.
This was emphasized by General Wesley Clark, Supreme Allied Commander Europe of NATO in 1997-2000, at the 15th annual Kyiv Security Forum, established by Arseniy Yatsenyuk’s “Open Ukraine” Foundation.
“I admire the courage and bravery of Ukrainians in the Armed Forces... The Ukrainian military must prove to Putin that he will lose,” the General said.
According to Gen. Wesley Clark, the NATO summit in Vilnius offers the civilized world a huge chance to support Ukraine “so that it preserves its territorial integrity and brings war criminals to justice.”
“This means that Ukraine needs to be equipped with all the means decisive for the victory on the battlefield. Not just a few planes or a few artillery systems, it is necessary to deliver all they need to Ukraine to vanquish, not lose the war,” he emphasized.
Wesley Clark emphasized that the war in Ukraine, like any conflict, must end.
“The efforts on achieving NATO membership should be continued step by step. And it is exactly why the USA must provide Ukraine with all the necessary means as soon as possible, everything that new technologies can offer. Mr. Putin must see that the USA and NATO are not intimidated, and there is no way for negotiations,” he said.
"It is necessary to clearly and unequivocably say that Ukraine should join NATO within the next six months. It is only then that Putin will be able to grasp this. Indeed, it will be a serious fight ahead, but the Americans will support you, and we will stand with you for as long as it takes. We are impressed by the courage and extreme dedication of Ukrainians to this struggle,” he summarized.
Noteworthy, the 15th annual Kyiv Security Forum “For Our and Your Freedom/ Fighting for NATO” will be held on May 25-26, 2023, with the participation of well-known international figures. In particular, at the Forum, the KSF Security Council will be formed and a policy document will be adopted with recommendations for the NATO summit in Vilnius to be held this July.
