The Vice-Chair of the EPP urged to have no fears to assist Ukraine in destroying Putin’s regime in Russia
Ukraine’s invitation to the NATO summit in Vilnius should become a clear signal to Putin and his regime that Ukraine will become a member of the Alliance and this current war will never be repeated.
This was emphasized by Rasa Yukneviciene, Member of the European Parliament, Vice-Chair of the European People’s Party, at the 15th annual Kyiv Security Forum, established by Arseniy Yatsenyuk’s “Open Ukraine” Foundation.
“I want to address those thinking that Ukraine’s membership in NATO can become a negotiation topic with Russia. It would be a huge mistake, a disaster. Even if Ukraine regains its territories, a new conflict can repeat again, again and again,” she emphasized.
According to Yukneviciene, nobody holds any fear of Russia now as it was before February 24, 2022: “No one talks now about the Third World War, however, absence of a clear strategy on Russia is a problem.”
“Many people want to dismantle Putin’s regime in Russia. So now it is important to stop fearing to extend assistance to Ukraine to win this war and destroy the Putin’s regime. I am an optimist and I am certain that we can overcome problems on the Western front, and in my lifetime I will witness another, possibly democratic, Russia and, definitely see Ukraine in NATO in the near future,” she concluded.
Noteworthy, the 15th annual Kyiv Security Forum “For Our and Your Freedom/ Fighting for NATO” will be held on May 25-26, 2023, with the participation of well-known international figures. In particular, at the Forum, the KSF Security Council will be formed and a policy document will be adopted with recommendations for the NATO summit in Vilnius to be held this July.
