All political forces in Sweden support Ukraine's accession to the EU, Hans Vollmark
All political parties in Sweden support Ukraine’s accession to the European Union.
Hans Wallmark, Head of the Permanent Delegation of Sweden to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Chair of the Riksdag Committee on European Union Affairs, stated this at the 15th annual Kyiv Security Forum, established by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk’s “Open Ukraine” Foundation.
“All parties in the Swedish Parliament actively support the idea of Ukraine joining the European Union. Also, all political parties are discussing the issue of support and assistance to Ukraine, which we provide now and will extend in future,” he said.
Mr Wallmark added that Sweden has always believed in the “open door policy” of both NATO and the European Union.
Sweden, he said, submitted its application and received the invitation to join NATO, and only two countries – Hungary and Turkey out of all 31 members of the Alliance – have not ratified this agreement, and so he has high hopes for the upcoming summit in Vilnius.
“I hope we will walk through these open doors at the Vilnius summit,” Mr Wallmark said.
Noteworthy, the 15th annual Kyiv security forum “For Our and Your Freedom/ Fighting for NATO” will be held on May 25-26, 2023, with the participation of well-known international figures. In particular, at the Forum, the KSF Security Council will be formed and a policy document will be adopted with recommendations for the NATO summit in Vilnius to be held this July.
