25 May 2023, 15:59

Dorin Recean, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova expressed his gratitude to and solidarity with the Ukrainian people for protecting Moldova, the whole of Europe and the existing system of values.

He stated this at the 15th annual Kyiv Security Forum, established by Arseniy Yatsenyuk’s "Open Ukraine” Foundation.

“We are extremely grateful to Ukrainians who ensure peace and stability in the region. We share 1,200 kilometers of common border, and therefore it is extremely important that we join efforts to support Ukraine in resisting attempts to destabilize the situation in our region,” Dorin Recean said.

The Prime Minister said that he personally visited Bucha as an adviser on national security and defense to the President of Moldova Maia Sandu a month after the city’s liberation and eye-witnessed the consequences of Russian occupation.

“This clearly demonstrated their incomprehensible brutality,” the Prime Minister emphasized.

Dorin Recean added that Moldova supports the peace formula of the President of Ukraine, which includes steps to put a comprehensive ending to the war. In addition, according to him, Moldova supported the creation of a special tribunal to punish war criminals.

“We have also joined the international community in creating a register of damages and losses incurred. Moldova will support Ukraine and those regions affected by the war, and we try to identify new resources to expand our support and solidarity,” the politician concluded.

Noteworthy, the 15th annual Kyiv security forum “For Our and Your Freedom / Fighting for NATO” will be held on May 25-26, 2023, with the participation of well-known international figures. In particular, at the Forum, the KSF Security Council will be formed and a policy document will be adopted with recommendations for the NATO summit in Vilnius to be held this July.
