Vitaliy Klitschko: Putin wants to get Ukraine without Ukrainians
Kyiv continues to be attacked by Russian terrorists from the air, but through the coordinated effort of all units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the capital is safe and secure.
This was emphasized by Vitaliy Klitschko, the mayor of Kyiv at the 15th annual Kyiv Security Forum, established by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk “Open Ukraine” Foundation.
“Russian air raids on Kyiv will be futile, as we down most of the enemy’s UAVs. Unfortunately, though, hundreds of houses in Kyiv are destroyed or damaged. Many people get killed, including many children. This is not a “special military operation”, this is terror. Putin wants to take Ukraine, but he wants to take Ukraine without us. So, we protect our city, our home, our children, and our future. And I am certain that we will stop and defeat Russia in this war,” he said.
Vitaliy Klitschko emphasized that unity both within Ukraine and throughout the democratic world plays a key role in resisting the aggressor.
“We must all work towards a common agenda, as our unity is really of great importance... We thank all our military personnel who have given us the opportunity to retain our peaceful life in our hometown,” he concluded.
Noteworthy, the 15th annual Kyiv security forum “For Our and Your Freedom / Fighting for NATO” will be held on May 25-26, 2023, with the participation of well-known international figures. In particular, at the Forum, the KSF Security Council will be formed and a policy document will be adopted with recommendations for the NATO summit in Vilnius to be held this July.
