Russia should not exist in its current borders, - Refat Chubarov

Enslaved peoples of Russia must enjoy the right to self-determination.

This was stated by the Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Refat Chubarov, during the Kyiv Security Forum, founded by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk Foundation “Open Ukraine”.

“bringing to the end the russian-Ukrainian war is not only about ensuring territorial integrity of the Ukrainian state. This is not only condemnation and punishment of international criminals. It’s not just about reparations. The most important thing is to avoid the threat of repeated aggression by russia any time in future,” he said.

Chubarov noted that all of these raise the question of what Russia’s future existence be like.

“Nowadays there is no need to divide Russia in any artificial way, as once happened with Germany. The world and Ukraine must create the conditions and provide an opportunity for the peoples of Russia, who live in their own lands, and who in their absolute majority were added to Russia against their will, to enjoy their inherent right to self-determination,” he emphasized.

Refat Chubarov emphasized that if Russia continues to exist within its modern borders, this eventually ends up in yet another war.

“In 10, 15, or 50 years, it will become a threat again,” he said.
