Member of the European Parliament: EU Has to Support Ukraine More Actively Because of the Russian Aggression

European Union has to support Ukraine more actively because of the Russian aggression, Petras Auštrevičius, member of the EU Parliament, Vice-Chair of the Delegation to the EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Association Committee said.

"Kremlin made a very clear calculation, if Ukraine is split from the Eastern Partnership, if Ukraine is hold in corner and won’t implement reforms, this will give reasons to celebrate in Kremlin," he said.

Member of the EU Parliament underlined that Ukraine has cross-party support within the European Parliament and progressive political groups.

European Union has to apply a very clear principle - "first neighbor - first," Petras Auštrevičius said.

"Ukraine definitely falls into the category of these countries. That is why the EU can not look at Ukraine as a third country with a bit distant historic affiliation with Europe and not affecting economy and European situation," he emphasized.
