Nadia McConnell: Ukraine is forcing the whole world to see what the Kremlin is doing

12 April 2019, 16:42

Ukraine is forcing the whole world to see the real and aggressive actions of Russia’s leadership, so it’s inappropriate to talk about "Ukraine fatigue", Nadia McConnell, the President of the US-Ukraine Foundation, is convinced. She spoke about this at the 12th Kyiv Security Forum, organized by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk Open Ukraine Foundation.

"The term "Ukraine fatigue" is an awkward position which means that Ukraine is forcing the whole world to see what the Kremlin is doing… Today, Ukraine is no longer weak; it is gaining potential, understanding that it is stronger and more independent. Ukraine is becoming an asset rather than a consumer of aid. This will change the attitude on "Ukraine fatigue," she noted.

McConnell also believes that its western partners should provide Ukraine with assistance without assigning conditions to it.

"We are talking about the conditions of providing assistance, however today is about security… we can assign conditions, but how can we do that while there is a humanitarian crisis in the Donbass? There are temporarily displaced persons, there are wounded, there are killed. Right now, Ukrainians need to feel that we have not forgotten about them. We can’t hide from what’s happening," she emphasized.
