Andriy Parubiy: In today’s world, the main battle is for the hearts and minds of people
Today’s decisive struggle is not for territory but for the conscience of the nation, Andriy Parubiy, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, is convinced. He spoke about this during the 12th Kyiv Security Forum, organized by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk Open Ukraine Foundation.
"In today’s world, security isn’t just tanks and weapons; the main, decisive, and key struggle is for the hearts and minds of people. In today’s world, information warfare is the key method of attack, aggression and enslavement," he emphasized.
Parubiy noted that issues related to language, culture, and religion were not consciously addressed under the previous government, "all matters that determine the identity of the society, the nation."
"And in the areas where this propaganda was the most toxic, where the minds and souls of Ukrainians were the most poisoned by "Russian world" ideas, Russian propaganda, is where the ‘little green men’ and the Russian army first appeared. Because tanks arrive only after the battle for ideology has been won," he stressed.
According to the Chairman of Parliament, matters that form the identity of a nation are the main safeguard against aggression and guarantee of security.
"Today, we are considering a law on language and in the next plenary week it will be adopted," Andriy Parubiy informed.
