Oleksandr Pavlichenko: Ukraine should take part in international sanctions design

11 April 2019, 20:56

Mr. Oleksandr Pavlichenko, Executive Director of the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union, believes that Ukraine should be involved in the development of the European and international sanctions. He stated this during the 12th Kyiv Security Forum organized by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk Open Ukraine Foundation.

"We also should participate in the formulation of the European and international agenda for the sanctions design at the national level," Mr. Pavlichenko noted. According to him, we should talk about the participation of Ukraine not only in the sanctions regime development like the “Magnitsky Act”, but also within preventive measures on a global level.

At the same time, he said, Ukraine should implement international control mechanisms for the enforcement of sanctions at the national level.
