Volodymyr Groysman: Strong economy would allow Ukraine to respond adequately to future threats

11 April 2019, 12:38

Having strong economy, Ukraine will be able to respond to future challenges accordingly, Prime Minister of Ukraine Mr. Volodymyr Groysman is convinced. He said this during the 12th Kyiv Security Forum, organized by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk Open Ukraine Foundation.

"When the economy is strong and the state institutions are democratic, we will have the opportunity to respond completely to future challenges," he said.

The Prime Minister underlined the need to continue structural changes in the country.

"Since 2014, every government in Ukraine, and I had the privilege of working with Mr. Arseniy Yatsenyuk within the first Government after the Revolution of Dignity and in Parliament, everyone had taken a great responsibility for the decisions. This had been done in order to overcome the challenges," he said.

Mr. Groysman emphasized that the issue of security is gaining momentum for Ukraine.

"Last year, during the Forum, we had talked about challenges and threats, and a year later we cannot state that these threats are much less. We see desire and aspiration of the aggressor to apply different methods of hybrid warfare. The democratic world demonstrates commitment to values, and countries like Russia are demonstrating the different position. And this is a challenge for us", - the Prime Minister is convinced.

According to him, full consolidation of efforts by representatives of all power branches would unlock opportunities for more active growth of the national economy.
