12 April 2018, 16:38

This was stated by the Deputy Secretary of the National Security Council of Georgia Teona Akubardia during the 11th Kyiv Security Forum.

"NATO enlargement should be seen as the best way to confront Russia's revisionist policy," she said.
She stressed that the source of threats in the Black Sea region is the aggressive policy of Russia: "They do not like the current status quo and they behave like revisionists."
According to T.Akubardia, Russia tries to create its zones of influence and as a result to achieve a global status. "The Russian Federation is not only opposed to NATO's enlargement and the EU to its spheres of influence, but also Russia opposes the proliferation of Western values," she said.
The Kremlin does not respect the territorial integrity of countries, the democracy and the will of the peoples who want to choose the direction of development themselves. "Russia creates conflicts and makes them then frozen. And these conflicts like the Damocles sword lie over free choice of countries that bordering with Russia," she said.
