The Russian Federation should withdraw its troops from the territory of Transnistria, as this contributes to further degradation of the situation and disintegration of Moldova

This was declared by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova Pavel Filip during the 11th Kyiv Security Forum in Kyiv.

"Illegal military presence in countries does not lead to a peaceful settlement of the conflict. On the contrary, this encourages destructive forces to continue their plans to tear away pieces of the country's territory. That is why we constantly demand and ask for the withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of Moldova, as well as the transformation of the current operation in Transnistria into an international civil mission with an international mandate, confident that this will create an appropriate basis for the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict through negotiations," he said.

The Prime Minister of Moldova emphasized that the current security environment in the Eastern Europe region "is under the influence of constant changes that by themselves generate new challenges and threats." "These challenges and complexities in a new way define the concept of security. And the security agenda should be based on a new approach to asymmetric and unconventional risks, which, on the other hand, requires a new nature of international solidarity," he said.

P. Filip stressed that today traditional threats have not diminished, but also new hybrid threats, cyber threats have arisen. "Traditional threats, such as military ones, still exist. We see them also in the Republic of Moldova, because there are Russian troops in our territory. Such threats are relevant for the whole Eastern Europe. Such "hot spots", conflicts, the presence of foreign troops, that illegally stay on the foreign territory, present such a threat that the confrontation policy will only increase," he said.

P.Filip also underlined that the Republic of Moldova is a reliable partner of Ukraine and "will support all Ukraine's efforts to overcome the crisis in the Donbass and the political and diplomatic solution of the Crimea problem in order to ensure peace and territorial integrity of Ukraine, its sovereignty". "The Republic of Moldova has condemned and now condemns the illegal annexation of the Crimea and supports the efforts of Ukraine to resolve the crisis in the Donbass, as envisaged by the Minsk Agreements," he said.

The annual international event Kyiv Security Forum was launched by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk Foundation Open Ukraine in 2007 as a platform for high-level discussions on the current issues in Europe and the Black Sea region. The Forum aims at increasing security cooperation between the EU and the Black Sea region, raising awareness about regional developments among key regional players, promoting the role of independent and non-governmental actors in setting the security agenda in Europe.
