Petro Poroshenko: Russia instigates and orchestrates "international club of dictators"

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko believes that the 11th Kyiv Security Forum, organized by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk Foundation "Open Ukraine", hold in turbulent days for the whole world.

"I would like to draw your attention to the fact that this year the forum is holding especially at a particularly turbulent time. The world is now on the verge of adopting key fateful decisions by key actors in the global politics, which should finally give a sense of reality to some who lost it," the Head of State underlined.

Poroshenko hopes that the world will be able to avoid the "worst-case scenario," but according to his words those who stand for crimes against humanity should finally face the consequences of their actions.

"Russia instigates, orchestrates, directs such an "international club of dictators", which as a club of insane suicides decided to challenge the entire civilized world," he stressed.

The President believes that all restrained words about the possibility of a new "Cold War" are no longer relevant.

"I would like to disappoint you, my dears. It already lasts and lasts a long time. The "Cold War" in its hybrid edition by the Kremlin. This war has already crossed our threshold, this war has entered our homes into our lives, into our networks, into our e-mails. And as Arseniy (Yatsenyuk) has emphasized correctly, we need to unite in order to counteract effectively and protect the state in this war," he stressed.

Poroshenko stressed again that a strong international reaction to Russia's actions is needed, and Ukraine's role in this reaction can be very significant.

"I am convinced that the Russia's Achilles' heel is precisely its aggression against Ukraine... The path to victory certainly lies through our victory in Ukraine," the Head of State considered.

According to President, one of the necessary steps to stop the aggression of Russia should be the sending of the UN peacekeeping mission to the Donbas.

The annual international event Kyiv Security Forum was launched by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk Foundation Open Ukraine in 2007 as a platform for high-level discussions on the current issues in Europe and the Black Sea region. The Forum aims at increasing security cooperation between the EU and the Black Sea region, raising awareness about regional developments among key regional players, promoting the role of independent and non-governmental actors in setting the security agenda in Europe.

The event is being held with the support of NATO Information and Documentation Center in Ukraine, the German Marshall Fund, The Victor Pinchuk Foundation, The Royal Institute of International Relations, Chatham House (UK), and The Regional Representative Office of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Ukraine.
