The subconscious affects the manner a person dresses - Karen Dawnn

07 April 2017, 21:29

Karen Dawnn, the founder of Fashion Psychology Institute (USA), believes that the manner a person dress is affected by this person’s subconscious. She stated this during the session “Fashion as a new trend soft power” at 10th Kyiv Security Forum held by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk Foundation Open Ukraine.

“There is a lot of Freudian features in this. This is what is happening on the subconscious level”, the expert noted. According to Karen Dawnn, “this is a kind of an automatic process, like when we just put on some clothes and that’s all, but really it is not the way it seems because we always feel what this means for ourselves and for the others”.

The Forum moderator David Eades turned to Karen Dawnn with a request to comment on his appearance. He also noted that it had not taken him long to decide what to wear that day.

“So, David, it is true that it was not a long thought for you what to put on”, the founder of the Fashion Psychology Institute noted ironically. “However, there are certain messages that you send by your clothes. For example, your red tie indicates your desire to claim “I am the person managing the process here, this is my show, I’m in charge here”, she explained.
