Everything happening in fashion is reflection of reality where we live – Oksana Karavanska

“Fashion is a most comprehensive phenomenon in today’s human life. Everything that is happening in fashion is an absolute reflection of the reality where we live”, Oksana Karavanska, a Ukrainian designer, noted at 10^th Kyiv Security Forum held by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk Foundation Open Ukraine.

Elaborating on the perception of fashion, the Ukrainian designer said that fashion having existed for centuries had grown into a very beautiful, very modern product. Thus the designer described it as a variable, fleeting, sometimes thoughtless, but, at the same time, a very constant social form.

“Over the past 100 years a lot has been written about fashion, numerous analyses have been carried out: where it comes from, who constructs it and for what reason, how it affects human psychology. And frankly, there is still no answer to these questions. The only thing to say is that fashion is a barometer of public opinion. After all, political, social, and climatic conditions, along with wars – they all leave a mark on fashion”, Oksana Karavanska believes.
