Ariel Cohen: Trump's Administration has no common vision of U.S. global politics

It will take a while before it becomes possible to speak about the trends in global politics of Donald Trump’ Administration. Such an opinion was expressed by Ariel Cohen, Member of the Council on Foreign Relations (USA) at the 10th Kyiv Security Forum, organized by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk Foundation Open Ukraine.

"Representatives of Trump’s Administration do not speak one voice. There is no unified interconnected policy", he noted.

Ariel Cohen reminded on the pro-Russian rhetoric during the election campaign of the current U.S. President and contacts of his entourage with the Russian Federation, which have already become the subject of an investigation by the FBI and committees of the Congress.

"Like for many of my colleagues, it seems for me that Trump is going to be a very pro-Russian president," expert said. He motivated his opinion, including the latest events in Syria. "This morning 60 Tomahawk cruise missiles struck Syria. And the Russians were warned that they should withdraw their troops. At the same time, they did not try to bring down Tomahawks", expert explained.

From other side, Ariel Cohen recalled for Rex Tillerson, the U.S. Secretary of State, and Sean Spicer, the White House Press Secretary, who stated that the occupation of the Crimea is illegal and that Russia must restore the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

"Beware of what you want. Russians wanted Trump, now they have Trump. But let's see what it plays out", expert concluded.
