The Ministry of National Defence of Canada stresses that Russian President Vladimir Putin will not dictate to the world how it should be arranged.

This opinion was expressed by James Bezan, the representative of the Minister of National Defence of Canada, during the 8th Kyiv Security Forum organized by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk Open Ukraine Foundation.

“We know that Putin and his regime can not dictate to the world how it should be arranged,” – said Bezan.

At the same time the representative of Canada underscored that Russia is trying to intimidate the international community, in particular increasing the presence of its’reconnaissance aircraft, and not only over Europe.

“They fly over our border. As you know, the Arctic Ocean unites us with Russia. They are present there,” – said James Bezan. However, according to him, Canada also responds to Russia’s actions. “We ensured our presence in Eastern Europe and we participate in special air forces that are now patrolling the area of the Baltic Sea”.

In addition MOD representative of Canada said that his country provides military support to Ukraine. “From a military point of view, Canada has provided equipment for 27 million dollars. These are radar installations, means of personal protection for military personnel and so on. We are talking about 200 of our soldiers who are here to help withpreparation of soldiers for the National Guard and Ukrainian Armed Forces... Canadian boots now tread upon the Ukrainian land, helping Ukraine to solve its problems,” – he said.

James Bezan emphasized that the Prime Minister of Canada has repeatedly expressed his support for Ukraine including during personal meetings with Putin.

“We demand that Putin withdrew all weapons, all its military power, all the staff from the territory of Ukraine,” – said the representative of Canada.
