
Melanie SULLY
Head of Go-Governance Institute, Vienna, Austria Dr Melanie Sully, editor, writer and consultant, was for many years professor of political science at the Diplomatic Academy, Vienna. Formerly Voice of America radio correspondent, Dr Sully acts as a consultant on good governance projects for the Cultural Department of the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs, Austria. Further she has worked as a consultant for the OSCE (ODIHR Warsaw) on projects such as parliamentary standards, comparative legislatures, as well as women’s political participation. She is a member of scientific board of the Institute for State Organisation and Administrative Reform, Federal State Chancellery, Vienna and currently heads the Go-Governance Institute in Vienna (www.go-governance.com). Dr Sully joined the Austrian Foreign Ministry (Diplomatic Academy) 1992-1996 and then was Professor, Political Science, Diplomatic Academy, Vienna School of International Studies 1996-2010 Prior to that she was guest Professor Vienna University 1991-1992 and guest professor in Political Science, Innsbruck University. Dr Sully has edited and contributed to several publications on the Black Sea Region sponsored by among others, the Diplomatic Academy Vienna, the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs, Austria, the City of Vienna, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and EU-BAM. She is a frequent contributor with topical articles on politics for Austrian quality papers such as "Der Standard", "Die Presse", "Furche." and has numerous publications, books and articles on politics, parties, elections and government, in Austria, Britain, Ukraine (eg Europäische Rundschau, Parliamentary Affairs, The Political Quarterly) Dr Sully has given numerous guest lectures eg Harvard University, USA, Royal Institute of International Affairs, Chatham House, London, Minnesota University, USA, Tokyo University in Denmark, Helsinki University (MBA Summer School) and led specialised seminars for diplomats from Eastern Europe, Mongolia, Iraq on governance, parliaments and civil society She has organised major international conferences eg Moldova and Europe, Romania, Free Media Dr Sully is originally from Britain and studied at Nottingham University, B.A. Politics, Leicester University, M.A. European Studies and PhD University of Keele.
