Petro POROSHENKO

Poroshenko Petro Oleksiyovych, born in the city of Bolhrad, Odesa region, on September 26, 1965.

Citizen of Ukraine. Resides within the territory of Ukraine since the date of birth, particularly in the course of the last 23 years since the day of declaring the Independence of Ukraine.

1982-1989 – Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Faculty of International Relations and International Law. Specialization: International Economic Relations.

1984-1986 – military service.

1989-1992 – postgraduate student assistant of the Department of International Economic Relations in Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

1993-1998 – CEO of group corporation "Ukrprominvest".

1998-2002 – people's deputy of Ukraine of the III convocation.

2000-2004 – Deputy Head of the National Bank Council of Ukraine.

2002-2005 – people's deputy of Ukraine of the IV convocation. Head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Budget Issues.

In 2002, he upheld a thesis work "Legal regulation of managing state corporate rights in Ukraine". Candidate of Juridical Sciences.

8.02.2005-8.09.2005 – Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.

2006-2007 – people's deputy of Ukraine of the V convocation, Head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance and Banking Activity.

2009-2010 – Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

2012 – Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine.

2012 – people's deputy of Ukraine of the VII convocation, Co-Head of the Committee on Parliamentary Cooperation Ukraine-EU.

1998-2003 – member of the Coordination Council on the Functioning of the Security Market in Ukraine.

In 1998, he established a signature Charity Fund which carries out charity projects in various spheres of social life.

2000-2002 – Leader of "Solidarity" faction in the Verkhovna Rada of the III convocation.

2007-2012 – Head of the National Bank Council of Ukraine.

Honored economist of Ukraine, laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in the sphere of science and technology, laureate of P. Orlyk international prize, holder of the Grand Cross Order of Civil Merit of the Kingdom of Spain.

He was elected President of Ukraine at the early presidential elections on May 25, 2014. As President, he took the oath to the people of Ukraine on June 7, 2014.
