
Hanna HOPKO
Hanna Hopko Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament of Ukraine) Committee on Foreign Affairs since December 4, 2014.
She holds a Ph.D. degree in social communications, in 2009 defended the thesis “Ecological Journalism: Worldview Aspect”, later graduated the Ukrainian School of Political Studies and became an expert on public lobbying for the Institute of Political Education.
In 2014, after the events at Maidan, she, together with other activists of the EuroMaidan civic sector, co-founded the “Reanimation Package of Reforms”.
Member of the Board of Trustees of the Ohkmatdyt National Children’s Specialized Hospital since 2011 up to date.
Before being elected a member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, she was a member of the Board of the Anti-Corruption Action Centre, coordinator of the advocacy campaign “Our Children” of the volunteer movement “Space of Freedom”.
Together with other movements and politicians, she advocated the adoption by the Verkhovna Rada of 12 laws, including “On Transparency of Public Procurement”, “On Higher Education”, “On Access to Public Information” and the others.
In the special elections to the Verkhovna Rada of 2014, she was elected a member of Parliament of Ukraine of the 8th convocation on the list of the Samopomich (“Self Reliance”) Party (No. 1 in the list), excluded from the faction for having supported the draft law on decentralization on August 31, 2015.
