
Oleksandr TURCHYNOV
Secretary, National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine
In 1998, 2002, 2006, 2007, 2012, 2014 was elected as People’s Deputy of Ukraine.
In 1999 worked as a Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Budget, proposed as the author, fundamental budget reform and the Budget Code of Ukraine.
In 2004 – one of the leaders of the Orange Revolution. That was O.Turchynov who headed Executive Group of the Committee for National Salvation.
In 2005 he headed the Security Service of Ukraine.
In summer of 2007 O. Turchynov was appointed as the First Vice Secretary of Council for National Security and Defense of Ukraine.
During December 2007 - March 2010 he worked in the Government as the First Vice Prime-Minister of Ukraine.
Since 2010 - one of the leaders of the opposition to the regime of President Viktor Yanukovych. After the imprisonment of Tymoshenko, he served as the leader of the largest opposition party "Batkivshchyna" - as her first deputy he took over the party leadership.
From November 2013 to February 2014, he was one of the leaders of the Revolution of Dignity, headed the Headquarters of National Resistance.
On February 22, 2014 after the fall of Yanukovych regime, O. Turchynov was elected as Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. Due to the withdrawal of President Viktor Yanukovych of his duties, and according to the Constitution, the Parliament put on O.Turchynov the duties of the President of Ukraine and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In August 2014 as one of the organizers of the establishment of the "People's Front", O.Turchynov chaired its Central Staff.
After the early elections to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in November 2014, O.Turchynov became a leader of the faction of the party "People's Front" in parliament.
In December 2014 by the Decree of the President of Ukraine he was appointed the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.
