
Leonidas CHRYSANTHOPOULOS
Leonidas Chrysanthopoulos (born in 1946) has a degree in Political and Economic Sciences, Law School, University of Athens. 1972 – Embassy Attaché at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece. 1974 – promoted to Third Secretary of Embassy, Vice-Consul at the Consulate General of Greece in Toronto, Member of the Greek Delegation to the 29th and 30th General Assembly of the United Nations. 1977 – Appointed to the Permanent Mission of Greece to the EEC. 1982 – Appointed Director of the Diplomatic Cabinet of the Minister in charge of the EEC Affairs, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 1985 – Appointed Consul General of Greece in Istanbul. 1988 – Appointed to the Permanent Mission of Greece to the United Nations. 1989 – Appointed Deputy Permanent Representative to Permanent Mission of Greece to the United Nations. 1991 – Minister Counsellor at the Embassy of Greece to Beijing. 1992 – Promoted to Minister Plenipotentiary Second Class. 1993 – Ambassador of Greece in Yerevan. 1994 – Director of the Diplomatic Cabinet of the Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs (until July 1994). 1994-1996 – Alternate Director General for European Union Affairs, Director of C4 Directorate for Justice, Home Affairs and Schengen, Representative of Greece to the K-4 Committee and to the Central Group of Schengen at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 1996-2000 – Ambassador of Greece in Warsaw. 2000-2004 – Ambassador of Greece in Ottawa. January-December 2004 – Director General for European Union Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. December 2004-April 2005 – Director General for Bilateral Economic Relations and Multilateral Economic Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. April 2005-May 2006 – Chaired the Committee of Senior Officials of BSEC in Komotini and represented Greece in that Committee. 2006-2012 – Secretary General of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC). Since June 2012 – Ambassador A.H. of Greece.
