Ekuru AUKOT

Director of the Committee of Experts of Development of Constitution of Kenya

He is the Chief Spokesperson of the G47. In 2011 Aukot chaired the selection panel that recruited the Independent Electoral & Boundaries Commission (IEBC) of Kenya. He was the Director & member of the Committee of Experts on the Review of the Constitution of Kenya 2010. He also consulted for two US-based corporations, the Universal Strategy Group Inc., (USGI) & Development Alternatives Inc., (DAI). He is Senior Advisor on Policy & Planning in the Directorate of Policy & Planning at the Ministry of Defense, Government of the new Republic of South Sudan in Juba, an advocate of the High Court of Kenya, and a Partner in the law firm of Ekuru Kabage Nyamathwe & Co. Advocates. He has taught Constitutional & Administrative Law at the University of Warwick, UK and at the Kenya School of Law. He is writing his memoirs, “A Constitution is not a shopping list”, on the constitution building and implementation process in Kenya. He studied for PhD and LLM in International refugee law and Law in development respectively at the University of Warwick, UK; an LLB (University of Nairobi) and Diploma in Legal Practice (Kenya School of Law). Ekuru Aukot has and continues to serve his country in various capacities: he is the Chair of Council, JKUAT; Council member, the University of Nairobi; and chairs the National Labour Board.
