Piotr Grzegorz WOŹNIAK

Polish Chief National Geologist Under-Secretary of State

Graduated from Warsaw University, holding a Master's degree in Geology (1980). He headed a field group at Geopol-Polservice in Libya (1985), was an Assistant at the Polish Geological Institute (1980-1984, 1986-1989), served as Adviser to the Minister of Agriculture and Food Economy, Head of a task force for the establishment of the Agricultural Market Agency, AMA (1989-1990), Adviser to the Minister of Industry, Head of a Team for Appointing a Government's Representative for Enterprise Promotion (1990-1991), Director of an Organizational Team of the Mutual Insurance Society TUW (1991). Mr. Woźniak served as a Commerce Counsellor at the Commercial Counsellor's Office (in Montreal) of Poland's Embassy in Ottawa (1992-1996), Chairman of the Board of Directors of Polsko-Amerykańska Korporacja Technologii Ochrony Środowiska PAKTO S.A. (1997-1998), Adviser to the Prime Minister for Infrastructure (1998-2000). Mr. Woźniak also sat on the Board of Directors of Polskie Górnictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo S.A. (Polish Oil and Gas Mining Industry PGNiG) as Deputy Chairman for Trade and Restructuring (2000-2002). In 2002–2005 Mr. Woźniak ran his own business as economic adviser in the fields of trade in fuel gas, and implementation of projects in power industry and environment protection technologies. In 2004–2005 he was the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ence.Eko Limited and was responsible for consulting in the field of investment projects in power industry. Mr. Woźniak was an expert of the Parliamentary Committee investigating irregularities at Poland's PKN Orlen (2004-2005). On October 31, 2005 he was appointed minister of the economy. The exercise of the function ended November 16, 2007. In 2010 was elected as a chairman of the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER).
