Member of Parliament of Republic of Lithuania, Minister of Defense of Lithuania (2008 – 2012)

Rasa Juknevičienė (born 1958, Tiltagaliu village, Panevezio Distr) graduated from Kaunas Medical Institute 1983 as physician. 1984-1990 she served as s Children physician in the Central Hospital of Pasvalys. 1988 Ms. Juknevičienė was elected as member of Lithuanian Changeover Movement Pasvalys District Council, in Chair of the Council in 1989. Ms. Juknevičienė served as Deputy of the Supreme Council (Reconstituent Seimas), Member of Health Affairs and Municipality Commissions of the Supreme Council (1990-1992), Spokesperson for Seimas Opposition, reporter of the Homeland Union Fraction of Conservatives (1992-1996), Member of the National Security Committee (later- Nacional Security and Defence Committee) of Seimas (1996-2000), Deputy Chair of Lithuanian Community of the Atlantic Treaty (Since 1996), Assistant Speaker of Seimas, Chair of Seimas Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (1999-2000), Chair of NATO Affairs Commission of Seimas (1999-2000), Member of the National Security and Defence Committee of Seimas (2000-2008), Deputy Head of Seimas Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (2004-2006), Head of the Delegation (since 2006), Minister Of National Defence (2008-2012). Since 2012 Ms. Juknevičienė is Member of Seimas, Member of the National Security and Defence of Seimas, Deputy Head of Seimas Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. Ms. Juknevičienė is also Member of the Homeland Union (Lithuanian Conservatives) since its foundation in 1993, Member of Board of the party from 1996 to 1999, Deputy Chair of the Homeland Union party since 1999.
